Brian Steinhoff, Porn For the Whole Family -series
This is a bit older series but still definitely worth showcasing on Toombes. Artist Brian Steinhoff created a brilliantly titled series of collages “Porn For the Whole Family”. The series consists of collages crafted from still images of hardcore porn and the artist camouflaging their NSFW content with vintage floral patterns normally familiar from wallpapers or couch cushions.
His clever cuttings same time hide and highlight all the fleshy gloria going on in the images – all familiar positions, glory holes, body parts, they all are in there and you can see and recognize what’s going on, but still, they are hidden under the humorous textures. I read somewhere that with this collage series the artist wanted to showcase the critical accessibility of online porn. And according to him, which often results in a true banality of perversion.
