Malu Zanelato is a visual artist living and working in Florianópolis, Brazil whose turn is to blast the screen with cut-and-paste vivacity and color. To my Scandinavian we-like-earthly-tones eye, her strong, vivid colors are like honey.
When I asked about her works, she told that her art has two different points for perspective – on the other hand, the artworks can be more or less politically charged and a subtle way to make people reevaluate and reflect on their own behavior or place in the society; or then they can be spiritual because it’s the moment when she is creating the collages that she finds herself more connected to her inner world and feels a profound sense of peace and enlightenment.
Either way, I love her works, especially the strong feminine presence in that goes thru everything.
